Walking Plays take place over the course of an approximately one to two-mile route, stopping at natural backdrops for each scene, as the show progressively unfolds at each location. A walk leader guides the audience, who are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating.

At The Morton Arboretum

We’re so proud of our partnership with the celebrated Morton Arboretum, located in Lisle, IL, just west of Chicago. Our Executive Director, Lara, has regularly produced, written and directed creative experiences on the Arb’s 400 acres, for nearly two decades. Now, as the resident theatrical producer, Inkwell will continue to devise Walking Plays designed to connect with a wide range of audiences.

Shows are typically family friendly. Certain days are offered for shorter, more accessible routes, as well as special ASL interpreted dates. Visit the Morton Arboretum website for tickets and more info.

Bring Walking Plays to Your Location!

Any of our shows can be turned into a Walking Play and are available to come to your venue. We travel to Park Districts, Forest Preserves, Botanical Gardens, Library, School Grounds and any other outdoor location you can dream of. Contact us to plan your Walking Plays experience.
